Have you ever been praised enthusiastically and publicly for a job well done? Most of us have never been afforded that kind of lavish attention on a massive scale. And somehow we are ok with ourselves and live quite contentedly without the world constantly patting us on the back for a job well done.
But not everyone. Some need constant outside confirmation of their worth because their assessment of themself is never enough. And no one personifies this insecurity more than our president.
Imagine if the following pertained to you:
He has had his name affixed to the Kennedy Center, a street in Florida, several golf clubs, Trump Plaza apartment buildings in Jersey City, New Rochelle and NYC, and Trump International Hotels in Chicago, NYC and Las Vegas.
Then there are Trump magazines, Trump games, Trump wines, Trump Rx, a Trump Visa Gold Card, Trump steaks and a Trump bible.
Proposals include his moniker on a new class of battleships, a Trump fifteen-foot statue for his Doral golf complex, and plans are in development for his name on buildings in India, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Australia.
He wants to rename Washington Dulles International Airport in his name.
Not even mentioned here are other buildings, forts and stations that were either cancelled or never completed.
Then we get to the embarrassing tributes or gifts he was given: a gold crown from South Korea and a made-up peace prize award from FIFA. Most astonishing was a real Nobel peace prize given to him by the legitimate recipient, Maria Machado of Venezuela.
The above must look like this can’t all be true. It isn’t, because this isn’t all of it.
What is genuinely pathetic is that for all the times his name was affixed to something, for all the gifts and awards bestowed upon him – they were either done by him or done by others to satisfy his insatiable ego. World leaders have figured him out- just praise him and they will get favorable treatments.
Why does he need such genuflection? What must have happened to him to make him feel so insecure? You would think that just being President of the United States would be enough self confidence for him, but apparently, being the most powerful person on the planet is simply not enough.
