As most of us are unfamiliar with Project 2025, here is a concise description of what would happen in a Trump presidency:
The conservative think tank, The Heritage Foundation in Washington, DC created a “Mandate for Leadership” with an audacious plan to greatly empower the executive branch (i.e. the President) to overhaul several government agencies, including the FBI. This plan expands a president’s power to summarily hire and fire federal officials by replacing civil servants with loyal political appointees throughout our government. Yet in a stunning statement of hypocrisy, the plan reads “Legislatures make the laws in a republic, not executives.”
It also ominously states that the second American Revolution will be bloodless if the left allows. That last sentence alone should be chilling even for Trump’s most ardent fans, because you can count on half of the country not taking this overthrow calmly.
But how would this 2025 project affect us personally?
– Millions of families will suffer from the parts of the Affordable Care Act that they want to reverse.
– Millions of women will be drastically affected by their goal of reversing the approval of abortion pills.
– By seeking to “maintain a biblically based, social science-reinforced definition of marriage and family,”
millions of gay people will be affected by their seemingly strong opposition to same-sex marriage and gay couples adopting children. Yet with no sense of irony, they say they want to restore God-given individual rights to live freely. Aren’t we all God’s children?
– Why does Trump want a 10% tariff across the board on all imported goods? His mentality has always been to punish – in this case, China. But in reality, he would be punishing Americans because the cost of imported goods would simply rise to offset the tariffs. How many families would appreciate a $1500 a year increase in inflated costs to what we purchase? This decision alone could plunge our economy into what some economists call a death spiral.
– Why does this project want to end the federal department that tracks hurricanes? If you live in an area with a hurricane barreling toward you, wouldn’t you want advance notice of its arrival?
– If you or your parents enjoy the protection of Medicare, Medicaid, or social security, are you ok with plans to reduce their scope of coverage?
Whatever our politics are, whoever we love or detest, Americans across the board do not want our lives disrupted with unforeseen negative impacts that Project 2025 will inflict upon us.
If you love your family more than your party, think about the impact that Project 2025 will have on them. Do not discount what it says as simply fake news; it is in writing by those who plan on implementing it. Know what is at stake for you.
Soren Kierkegaard once wrote, “There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn’t true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true.”
It’s up to each and every single one of us to know the difference before it’s too late.
