How to Recover from an Injury-Fast

Updated on August 2, 2021

For a lot of people, it’s not a question of when you’re going to recover from your injury, but how fast you can recover. If you are able to recover fast then this will help you to really boost your recovery time and it will also make your injury seem far less daunting. If you have suffered an injury then you may find that it takes a lot of time for you to get going again and this can influence your life far more than you realise. If you want to do something about this then this is the guide for you.

Rest

When you have experienced an injury, you have to make sure that you rest right away. You also need to make sure that you continue to rest for the next two days. If you are injured because you have fallen, then don’t put any weight on your injury for 24-48 hours. If you are injured as the result of a medical procedure gone wrong or if you are healing slower than you should be then it’s wise to consult your doctor about this. Exercise

You may not think that exercising is the way to go if you have an injury, but it can actually help you far more than you realise. You have to make sure that you develop a fitness plan and that you also do your bit to do a lot of cardiovascular exercise as well. Make sure that you warm up and cool down, even if you are going for something as simple as going for a walk. You might also want to make sure that you try and rest when you are tired. If you’re older, then this is especially important because your body won’t be as resilient when compared to other people.

Ice

Applying an ice pack is a great way for you to make sure that you recover as fast as possible. If you have a sports injury or if you have fallen then you need to make sure that you ice the area for 20 minutes at a time, for 3 hours. The cold is going to reduce your pain and swelling. If you do not have an ice pack then some frozen peas will work just as well.

Compression

Wrap the area with some medical bandage if you can. This will help you to prevent any swelling. The great thing about wrapping is that it will keep it nice and snug but it won’t be too tight. Loosen the bandage if you know that the skin underneath is becoming cold or numb.

Elevation

Do your bit to raise the injured body part above your heart if possible. The great thing about doing this is that it will reduce pain and swelling. On top of this, you may find that you are able to recover way faster. Acting quickly is key at the end of the day, so make sure that you keep this in mind if possible.
