- Green Spaces – children don’t get to spend enough time outdoors so take your grandkids to the local park. They usually have areas specially kitted out for kids and you can take a picnic and spend the day there.
- Zoo – give them the opportunity to get up close to many of the world’s marvelous animals and learn about conservation at the same time. The US has some of the best zoos in the world.
- Aquarium – this is a day out for all the family that’s far more entertaining than you think. Many large scale aquariums have
walk in tanks where you can be surrounded by wonderful creatures. - Railway – take a trip on a train and give them a view of the local area they never get to see when traveling by car. Across the length and breadth of the
US there are some breathtaking train rides you can take with the grandkids. - National Park – there are 60 protected areas known as national parks in the USA. Yellowstone National Park is the most famous but there are plenty more locations where you can experience some awesome scenery.
- Animal Sanctuary – an animal sanctuary is a place where animals are brought to be cared for. Some of these facilities try to re-home their animals but they always welcome visitors who want to come and look around and maybe volunteer to help for a few hours.
- Riding Stables – if you’re looking for a unique and fun experience this idea ticks both boxes. Many riding stables welcome children and are only too happy to teach them how to ride.
