7 things I learned by taking CBD oil

Updated on January 12, 2020

I have to admit that when I first heard the word CBD, I was a skeptic. The first thing that comes to mind is cannabis, right? And in no way, shape, or form have I ever been bothered about it.

But then I started chatting to people who were telling me Vitagenne CBD softgels was different, that it made them less anxious rather than more-so, and made them much more comfortable in their own bodies.

So, I decided to do some online digging. And what I read eventually made me decide to give CBD a try.

It doesn’t make you high

The first thing I came across was the fact that CBD, or cannabidiol, does not make you ‘high’. According to CBD Kyro, CBD makes up for 40% of what is extracted from hemp, a specific strain of the cannabis plant.

Unlike THC, the other main product that can be extracted from hemp, CBD gives the taker no psychoactive effects.

I learned from Healthcare Weekly that any CBD product which contains more than 0.3% is actually illegal, so that put my mind at ease about trying a well-trusted product out.

It’s legal

My other thought when people started recommending CBD was is it actually legal? It didn’t seem quite right that a product derived from weed could actually be given the go-ahead in America.

But, again, after some digging, I found from a Harvard blog post that all 50 states have legalized CBD with varying restrictions. Once again, this put my mind at ease.

I sleep better

Since taking the recommended two drops of CBD oil daily, I’ve noticed that I feel much more rested as my sleep has improved hugely. Before taking CBD, I could toss and turn for up to an hour on an average night simply due to stress.

I wondered why my sleep had improved since taking the oil so, you guessed it, I did some digging.

I found that CBD boosts serotonin in the brain, which can help to relieve anxiety. So, when I now go to drop off to sleep, I find that it’s only taking around 15 to 20 minutes.

My entire body feels more relaxed and my mind is more settled.

CBD also produces the hormone melatonin which helps to better the quality of your sleep.

This means that not only is CBD helping me to get to sleep faster, but I’m also staying asleep for longer in a much deeper state of rest.

My body is pain-free

I go to the gym a lot in my spare time. So naturally, my muscles are pretty much always sore. Since taking CBD, I’ve noticed that the pain I was experiencing the days after a heavy gym session has significantly decreased.

I find that I can climb the stairs, get out of bed and take a seat much easier than I could when struggling with serious muscle pain.

It turns out that once again this is down to our trusty pair, serotonin and melatonin. In the same way, as these help the body to sleep, they also make it feel much more relaxed in general.

This feeling of relaxation soothes the body and makes it feel much ‘happier’, which dampens the feeling of pain.

I’m more focused

My day to day life is very busy and, being self-employed, I only have myself to blame if I don’t do the work and don’t get paid.

But sometimes, we all have those moments where we get extremely distracted – whether that’s due to a backward and forwards email trail, family life or even just scrolling social media.

Once I started to take CBD, however, I noticed that I paid attention to these distractions much less.

My mind is very much on the straight and narrow now, which allows me to focus on one job at a time, rather than frantically trying to do everything at once.

This new sense of clarity makes it much easier to sit and tick everything off my to-do list one step at a time, without feeling stressed or anxious.

I’m less anxious

I think a lot of the reason I am more focused is down to the fact that I am much less anxious in general now.

According to Depression Alliance, CBD can help with a whole range of mental health illnesses, including post-traumatic stress disorder, social anxiety, and depression.

This is because CBD can directly interact with our body’s endocannabinoid system, which is designed explicitly for processing cannabinoids to find a healthy inner balance.

CBD can react with the brain’s receptors to bring hormone levels to a ‘normal’ state, making it easier for the brain to stay rational.

I find that this helps me to stay more relaxed in meetings, at ease in social situations and able to generally have more confidence in myself on a day-to-day basis.

My skin is clearer

Anyone who has struggled with acne knows how largely it affects your life. I’ve found myself not leaving the house for days and caking myself in makeup. I’d tried everything: creams, balms, masks, cleansers, the lot, other than CBD.

Turns out that CBD is an anti-inflammatory, which prevents cytokines from activating to keep the skin calmer, even when the odd zit pops up.

It is also a highly effective sebostatic which means it reacts to how the body creates sebum – the oily substance that skin makes.

When sebum builds up it can lead to very oily skin which is prone to acne.

CBD regulates this, which has left my skin clear, hydrated and looking after itself much better – without a daily four-hour skincare routine.

The oil also contains antioxidants which is why it has become an anti-aging ingredient in so many skin care products today that promote hydrated skin.

It’s now part of my routine

I now simply cannot imagine life without CBD in it. It’s helped me with everything from clearing my skin to making me more at ease in social situations, and now I recommend it to everyone I meet.

Cool Things Chicago is right in saying that the potential for the plant can only get greater. I completely agree.

Give it a go – it’s worth a try.
